Anime Baka

Anime - Japanese Animation
Baka - Japanese word for idiot or fool

Loosely put an Anime Baka is someone who's crazy about Anime. However interpretation's may vary. I tend to think of Anime Baka as meaning something like drooling fan boy/girl.

Wrote this a long time ago. Too short for an article:
Perverted - Hentai in Japanese. But the word pervert means deviation from normal or accepted. So, how can all guys be perverts?

Did you ever notice that the sex scene in the movie is generally at about the same realative place as the guitar solo in a song?

Autotomous Self Aware Battleships
Updated: 2009-06-22

Just watched the new Terminator movie and of course played with the idea of self aware Battleships. Or at least ones that you could simply put into the pond and let them go vanquish the enemy. There are a lot of problems with this. One big one is determining just who is enemy.

So I quickly back peddled on the idea as my artificial intelligence programming sucks. One idea that comes to mind and someone was experimenting with this was have a targeting system that could keep track of a blob of color using some sort of digital camera. You could point it to acquire the target and then it would establish lock and attempt to track the target. Use two cameras in two towers and you have lock with range. That could be very useful indeed, but might be a bit of overkill.

I really think that you could put a lot of time into developing such a system to have it only occasionally work. It would very easy for it to confuse targets. Also this would probably have you targeting the masts, flags or otherwise of the ship and would be nearly impossible to target the proper areas of the target. In other words if you target the flag color you may actually be targeting the front, back or center of the ship.

To work well this would require a computerized identification system on par with current face recognition software. It would be very complex indeed.

It will be very interesting to see if any ideas come up in the area, but I think there is no simple way to do this. Only the expensive, research driven way.
